Not necessarily - we are given clues from Cornelius later in proceedings that these chaps have travelled back from a different future than that depicted in the previous two films.
In this future they may well have been instructed by that future's Taylor how the ship operated before travelling back in time 😉
logic went out the door in this film. three apes were able to get a space ship flying.
Not really. The ship in the 1st movie simply sank, it didn't burn up or explode like the ship did in the second movie. The whole logic behind how it happened was explained by Cornelius. He told everyone that the killed Chimpanzee was a Genius ahead of his time, that he arraigned to have the ship towed to shore, studied its inner workings and figured out about 1/2 of what the ship did.

My only complaint is they didn't name their baby Aldo. Bring it full circle.

Well, two had to get behind and push it downhill until the one at the controls could pop the clutch.
