Or does Dolores get a lot of hate for no reason at all? Come on, she comes there, with only Ma Kehoe looking out for her, and she develops this idea that Eilis is a nice girl, and she herself is incredibly enthusiastic for any chance to go out with them, but they all shun her, including Eilis- please someone explain to me what's so bad about Dolores?

Btw, I do like this movie- and I love that my own Irish ancestry is highlighted in this movie- I go to Wexford every year, and that beach, Curracloe is my favourite beach :)

Dolres is the curly blonde-haired girl from Cavan, who is quite naive- and yeah, but Eilis isn't that fun either

Lol maybe- I'm not a fan of her, I must say

Dolores seemed to put her foot in her mouth every time she opened it. And she was always so grumpy looking for some reason.. She wasn't unattractive. If she smile some she probably would have met someone.

Yeah, but wouldn't you be grumpy if you were treated the way she was?

Yes true, but not when you're out wanting to meet a nice young man. You'd forget about the grumpiness and look approachable, I would think.

Yeah maybe, but that still doesn't explain why Patty, Diana and Eilis (and at times, Sheila, even though she is the most decent of the bunch) were so mean to her- they didn't give her a chance

I think they were just a bunch of mean girls you have in every country... No reason for it, only that they think they are far superior than everyone else.

Yeah, I suppose, but Eilis is treated like she's such a nice person throughout the movie, except by Miss Kelly (who, obviously, is the most horrible character in the film)

Then I have no answer disappointed

Sorry, I know I asked a question, and you're trying to help.. you're probably right, except that Patty and Diana are actually nice to Eilis, which probably is why she has no problem with them, but I'm pretty sure for me at least, if I knew people like them, I'd be friends with all of them

I think it was simply comic relief that fell flat. I felt sorry for the poor girl.
