Just watched this over the weekend

Wow. After slowly trudging through all of the best picture nominations for this year and being bored to tears through pretty much all of them, this movie was like an electric jolt to the system. Why had I not heard of it? It came out a couple years ago and anything Woody Harrelson is in I always watch, but this one slipped under the radar for some reason. I thought the movie was excellent. Great story, great acting, pacing might have been a little slow but I felt it was necessary for the character development. Christian Bale, Casey Affleck (who by the way was much better in this role and believable than Manchester by the Sea) Woody Harrelson, Forest Whitaker....great actors in this. Great soundtrack to boot. I highly recommend seeing this one

Beautifully shot and directed as well... I think this movie was too masculine for most critics and unsentimental. They couldn't see past the macho aspects and recognise the drama or the deeper themes.
Not gonna lie, the scene on the bridge broke my heart.
Strong movie.
