I wasn't a big fan of Firefly. I knew enough about the show to basically know what the basic plotline was, and I knew that to a lot of people it was special. Then, I bought a copy from a bargain bin, and I'm very glad I did! It had everything you could ever want from a ScFi movie and more!

Anytime I want to drag someone into the awesomeness that is firefly, I make the watch the movie first. Then they seem to take to the show much better. 😀

Being new, you might find this page of interest! It's set up is annoying in the sense that you have to click to a new page for each story line but hey, it's firefly. Lol http://www.looper.com/56266/firefly-storylines-never-got-see/?utm_source=fb.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=facebook_zergnet

@ApathyandBeyond : Thanks for the tip. BTW, what did you think about Chitewel Ejifor as the Operative? I loved him. And I'm a sucker for a sexy British accent.

I liked him! The operative is a good character. I never really thought about who else would of made a good one tho...British accent is definitely the way to go for a bad guy tho. 😉 I wouldn't of minded seeing more of the twins if there had been future episodes...the ones that Mal met in the bar before River went all oaty bar crazy.

@ApathyandBeyond Every time I watch the movie, I get the distinct feeling that Booker used to be an Operative. He knows way to much information on them not to have been one himself.

Oh Maria Kelly! You need to go here --> http://firefly.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Comics It will take you to a page about the comics and the continuation of the story lines. It's a detailed description of the comic and worth the read. (I'm not much for comics but a sucker for anything firefly/serenity so this was a good option) One of them is about Shepard Book and reveals his back story! Check it out!

I feel the same way really; I never finished the tv show having brought the boxset I thought it was that bad, but, I thought the film as great

I actually hated the movie. What happened to Shepherd and Wash pissed me off to no end and I lost interest when River became the invincible killbot in the hold. I felt that Whedon killed, by far, the most interesting character (Book) before we ever learned what made him tick. I had always been more interested in what happened to Mal and Zoe--and felt they made a better and more dynamic "couple" than Mal and Inara--than the subplot about River and her brother.
Just did not like Serenity and haven't watched more than once, even though I own it on DVD.

@ultraviolet As AlienFanatic kind of said, Serenity and Firefly weren't for everyone, but I loved Serenity.
The movie made a good explanation of why River was the way she was, and explained how the reavers came to be.

Loved the series & I watched the movie years ago but I just rewatched a 'butchered' version on Comet TV today & am NOT a fan of the movie. Since it was made AFTER the series ended it should have gone beyond what happened in the series. It was basically just a rehash.
