Does anyone else feel sorry her? I know she killed old Nathan and all, but he really did deserve it. She put up with so many years of his abuse, including the murder of her lover, plus she took care of him when he got old. I think all the years of mental abuse just caused her to snap. And I always feel sorry for her when she's talking to the grave. Viveca Lindfors did a great job with this small part.

It's understandable why she snapped and did what she did, so I always felt some sympathy for her.

I agree OP, Nathan killed her fiance, was a needy old man and a straight up a$$hole to her. Years of that I'm sure made her snap, she didn't deserve to die and Nathan win in this story...but then again, EC Comics were notorious for that.
Interestingly, Viveca Lindfors was told to ad lib that whole scene by the grave, she ROCKED it didn't she?

She really did. You could feel the hurt and pain she carried around for years. I heard that the liquor she has with her and spills on the grave was French for new life. So if she stayed away maybe she would've lived

Have any of you seen the comic book adaptation? The scene where Bedelia does the deed and totally snaps is almost comical. The comic has art by the late legendary Berni Wrightson.

YES! I have it! I must've read that comic cover to cover back in 82 dozens of times! I begged my mom to take me but she said "it looks too disturbing and you're too young"...ffwd years later and its arguably what's made me the comicbook fan I am today!
