I would think that if Sony Pictures has it as "Formula 51" that that is the house's mouth?
As a US company (and in this case the theatrical distributor for the movie in the US) they of course carry the US title, released in 2002. Original title is the UK title in this case. Closing topic.

No, you are mistaken. The film was originally released in the UK on December 7th, 2001, under the title "The 51st State":
