Around this time, I like to watch Holiday Inn, While You Were Sleeping, and Groundhog Day. Also an obscure Aussie film called Miracle Down Under.
Never cared for White Christmas, which I feel is a poor film.

It's a Wonderful Life is my must-watch annual tradition. I finally got to see it on the big screen a couple of years ago which was quite an emotional experience to say the least!
Other favourites:
The Shop Around the Corner
A Christmas Carol (the Alistair Sim version, although I am also fond of George C. Scott's movie)
Gremlins
The Ref (brilliant black comedy, one of the funniest films of the 90s)

What no Die Hard on anyone's list?😀
I could go with any of the basics which I'll have on as background throughout the day. I might go for a non-traditional Christmas title like Three Days of the Condor or go real old school Christmas with The Lion in Winter.
One thing I like is the many non-Disney cartoons and animation from years past. I have a nice dvd collection of them. Three to look for were made by a small company called Centaur Productions from about 1951: Suzy Snowflake, Hardrock, Coco, and Joe(about three elves), and the original Frosty the Snowman. Another must see is the gorgeous 1939 MGM short Peace on Earth.
Another thing to do is check out the many Christmas episodes of television shows. That is a fun time trip. Also the many variety Christmas specials. Three that I like include the 1963 Judy Garland show episode, first Judy is alone then her kids drop in then Mel Torme. It is very sparse. Make sure you have a cocktail in hand.
The 1977 Paul Lynde Twas the night before Christmas special is a hoot. Finally the 1967 Monkees Christmas episode with Butch Patrick. After they run around in fast motion they teach Butch something about the season. Then they sing a fabulous version of the Spanish carol Riu Riu Chiu.
Then finish up with a set of classic holiday music videos.

It's a Wonderful Life is definitely my Christmas season tradition as well. I also like The Bishop's Wife immensely.
Today I saw, for the first time, Home Alone, and simply felt that it was okay. I gave it a watch based solely on reputation, as I've heard much about it over the years.
A couple of classic Christmas films that I have yet to see and want to get around to watching soon are The Shop Around the Corner and White Christmas. Also possibly Miracle on 34th Street.

barry, you've got to watch those three (mentioned in your final line) movies sooner, rather than later! For me, White and Miracle are absolute holiday essentials!

Do try to watch both versions of 'Miracle'.

Does any one watch Christmas movies after December 26th? (It's still during the twelve days of Christmas)

I have a few Christmas movies on DVD, so I watch them all year long. I also have Christmas lights up in the living room all year!

wonder, I do, if there's still any of the holidays-relevant movies I have on DVD that I continue to feel determined to get around to - though typically I've fizzled out by Christmas day. So far this holiday season I've only watched 1984's A Christmas Carol, so have some hurrying up to do if wanting to get some other faves watched between now and Christmas!
Here's a list of the Christmas/holiday-relevant DVDs that are in my collection. Of those, I watched, within the last few months, 1935's Scrooge (I have the restored version, which looks great) and The Bishop's Wife (1947). I think I remember also watching Miracle on 34th Street sometime during summer months. So, yep: I'm also a year-rounder, if in the mood for a holiday movie off-season.

Scrooged
Especially for Carol Kane's performance
A Muppets Christmas Carol
What says magic holiday fun more than the Muppets.
The Snowman
Beautifully animated short with wonderful music.
Jack Frost
Michael Keaton comes back to life as an enchanted snowman after his son plays on a magic harmonica. A ridiculous film but a refreshing change of pace from the usual.

I also liked A Little Princess, the PBS Wonderworks version from the 1980s. Melancholy and with a nice theme music.

Scrooged, Home Alone 1 and Die Hard. It’s a Christmas movie for me.
