Discuss Flowers in the Attic

I remember they were just locked up for several months. Locked up in the attic, kids getting sick, and being abused was a big red flag. The roof escape was over the top imo. Break the wood door down and dismantle the few ppl in the house and open the door. I doubt the dogs were running loose 24hrs aday. Or just call the police, tell em your held against your will

i think this aspect was what made the movie weak for me.

Same here, although with them being kids, I'm not sure where they would go.

yea minus their dead little brother

Because this was during the great depression. The manor didn't have a phone. Also the help in the book were frightened of their employer. She fired them at whim.

The kids believed they would be living the good life if they just kept quite until their grandfather died. The book was a little more silly as they spent years waiting.

The movie at least changed it to months. Made them much smarter

I don't know what year the movie is set in (haven't seen it) but the novel starts the story in 1957, almost 20 years after the 'depression ended. Also Corrine's mother was very wealthy and I'm pretty sure she had a phone in the house.
