We watched this on a streaming platform because I'll pretty much watch anything with Gandolfini.

I thought it was gonna be corny but just on the right side of watchable.

Which was kind of correct.

But the thing that really killed the film was what it took for the plot to take on the love angle between Affleck and Applegate. As soon as he entered the home of the family I knew what it was gonna be about. I saw "Christina Applegate" in the opening credits.

But rather than actually building up a predictable story for them to start liking eachother they have NOTHING. Then they go on a snow ride and laugh. Then they have a conversation and she tells a story about some tree. And that's literally it.

On some level I should be thankful for being spared the cliches that comes with that but it was hard to take it seriously at all after that.

Still it was pretty funny. Not good, not godawful.
