His films aren't THAT bad.

I think he means for the accidental and tragic death of Vic Morrow & 2 young children during the filming of Twilight Zone: the Movie

He was filming with children (illegally) during the wee hours of the morning. The stunt was untested & unsafe.. not to mention supposedly Landis was high on cocaine during the filming & demanding more & more dangerous requests of said scene (which is on Youtube if memory serves), Landis went to court for murder, but was dismissed. Although Landis avoided jailtime, he severed ties with up & coming director Steven Spielberg due to the incident and his directing career tanked (exception being Coming To America).

I never heard the intimate behind-the-scene details of that scene with Morrow and the kids. I never knew Landis was high on coke during that shoot, or knew about the grisly details of how Morrow and the kids died. I looked it up on google just now and it's pretty damn sad and freaky. Landis settled out of court with the families of Morrow and the kids. I guess when you have a lot of money, you can buy yourself out of jail time.

Even if he did go to prison he would be out by now.
