This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I could watch it over and over.

I only just watched it a few days ago. What a pleasant surprise. I thought it would be an agony based on the introduction, but it was really funny and quirky like the date with the OS. I loved it.

And Scarlett's voice!!!!

Delightfully different... And could happen !!

I do, great movie.

it's great.

I enjoyed it. I'm not sure I need to see it again.

Is very nice.

It's pretty ok and well written. I enjoyed Ex Machina slightly more concept wise.

While not being THE best film, it's a very good one. Great concept, well acted, intriguing setting.

Saw it yesterday. Really surprised how deep and wonderfully meta it became. A nice look into what it means to be human and how to juggle relationships in the modern era. It does get pretty depressing at certain points; like at the beginning where he's in the middle of an existential crisis and just walking around like a ghost with no emotion in him.

However, the film has some very funny moments too. I laughed during the initial chat between him and the OS because it felt too real. Made me wonder what I'd even ask it or expect from it. Kind of intimidating really. Another laugh-out-loud moment was the video game... so unexpected hehe.

I can't say much about Scarlett's performance because I saw it in German and not OV. smile Of course the dubbed voice works perfectly because there is no lip sync to worry about and her voice is equally sexy and nuanced at times. 7.5/10

I also saw it as exploring how we are becoming more connected to computers and less connected to real people. The scenes where everyone is walking around the shopping mall in their own little world. Absorbed by their computers and completely ignoring each other.

I think it's very feasible that one day this will be a reality. It will be normal for people to have these artificial relationships.

I realized that too, but the protagonist did have many real pals and the end shows us that humans seek real contact compared to an artificial thing.

I just wish that they explored the fact that such an AI was even possible in the first place. I mean, there is this highly capable and intelligent tool that people could take advantage of. And what rights do they have? Someone could torture their OS or hack it, or maybe ask the OS to do something illegal. Who would get the blame? And I was wondering how it didn't run amok (kinda does at the end though) and harm people. Didn't anyone think about the privacy issues? Think about today's Alexa as an example of controversy. But perhaps the film's lesser message is that humans disregard their privacy if they can simply have a good time. The pros outweigh the cons.

They would all be interesting concepts to explore. But the film probably didn't have room for them. And it needs to have focus. But sounds like there's another film there. A film focusing on those issues would be great and very apt for the times we live in.

Yeah but I don't think that was the point of the film. It was more about connections and who we love, whether it be a computer or a human - you can't help who you fall in love with. The story was about Theodore and the women in his life; his wife, his friend, his OS. Having issues such as abusing the OS would be a different film entirely.

I loved this film, particularly the cinematography, soundtrack and Joaquin Phoenix's acting. It was much deeper than I thought and the comedy elements was just at the right level, with this kind of film it could have easily been farcical but there was always a sense of realism to it.

My thoughts exactly.
