Hi, the original title is incorrect as translated, the original title is 葉問 (traditional chinese as this is Hong Kong production). I already added the pinyin and simplified chinese titles as alternatives.

Well, it depends how you translate it, Yip Man and Ip Man are acceptable. If you're referring to the title, this is not the original title and IMDb never uses original titles, always translated versions. I'm not sure what the policy is exaclty, the help mentions a French movie as an example and I think putting the original title in Chinese is the way to go.

I absolutely agree with sberder. An original movie title means the title it was given when it released in its native country. Another incorrectly locked title is for the Korean movie listed as Bedevilled (https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/59421-kim-bok-nam-salinsageonui-jeonmal). The original title should be "김복남 살인사건의 전말" and not "Kim Bok-nam Salinsageonui Jeonmal". Asian countries do not name their movies with romanization. This is something English speaking people use to read characters they would not otherwise be able to comprehend without knowledge of the language. That being said, romanizations are not "Original" movie titles. "Kim Bok-nam Salinsageonui Jeonmal" should instead be listed as an alternate title with the description "Romanized" and under the country "Korea". Displaying native titles is one of the many things that makes TheMovieDB better than imdb.

I personally agree with this as well and it was always the intention of the "original title" field. I'll run this by the moderators to make sure we're all on the same page.

Travis, that would be great to get some movement on that front, as soon as this is settled I'll try to update as many movies I can (I don't have rights to unlock).

Just make sure to add the romanized title (and/or the one used on IMDB) as an alternative and it should be fine. If a title is locked you simply report it and it will be taken care of.
