I'm a major Ringworm, all the way back to the original four Ring books by Koji Suzuki - Ring, Spiral, Loop, Birthday. I love most of the Japanese Ring movies*, as well as other Asian remakes. of course I've followed the American remakes faithfully đ if anyone has any questions about Samara or the cursed video, the actual curse, backstories, etc. let's discuss! ask me anything and I bet other super fans will find this place and share their knowledge too.
there's even a Japanese movie with Sadako up against the Grudge ghost, Sadako vs. Kayako. I think Sadako won but the argument rages on *lol like Freddy vs Jason

Do you know how many movies in total there are? Remakes, sequels, the works.

@HeatherS. let's see, 5 Japanese movies that have come to the US, but they also had TV movies and anime! 3 American remake/sequels. At least two each of Korean, Thai and Chinese remakes/sequels. there are lots of other Asian horror versions of Ring, I've lost count. then the brilliance that is Japan's Sadako vs Kayako (the Grudge ghost). so I've seen 14 total Ring movies so far.

Ohhhh aren't those films like the others like "Hikiko san vs Kuchisake Onna"? or "Hikiko san vs. Sadako" ? I thought those were fanmade I'll give it a watch. But I've never heard about a Thai or a second Korean movie or shows.

"Bunshinsaba vs Sadako" is actually a proper film that came out a tiny bit before Sadako vs Kayako... couldn't find English subs though.
"But I've never heard about a Thai or a second Korean movie or shows."
Same here.

I'm I correct to assume that in both Ringu and The Ring, the main female character was not spared when the ex-husband/boyfriend watched the video, but rather when the son did (from the copy)?
And besides how viruses obviously copy themselves, what is the benefit of making a copy of a tape to show to somebody, rather than just showing the original tape to somebody? The curse still spreads regardless, and it seems most people destroy the tape before it anyway lol.
Also, is there something else gripping about their deaths that seems to appear as a result of their shocked faces? Are they also sent to some state of tormented limbo? Heh.
Last thing... in Ringu, there is no one on the other side of the telephone who says "You will die in one week" or anything like that. Instead, you just hear that same sound you hear on the tape. I don't know much Japanese, but I'm guessing that sound is not a part of the Japanese language haha.

Do you prefer the Japanese original or American remake with Naomi Watts? I think the Japanese version is far superior and Samara is about as scary as Shirley Temple in comparison to Sadako.
