whether Tom was crazy or possessed is unclear. I just think both are copouts as motives. Not enough backstory that pertains to either. Still entertaining as a slasher but ruined it with the conclusion. A better motive wouldve been Tom was left for dead in the mine and wanted some sort of revenge.

That was Harry's motive in the original. I think that Tom had a breakdown and wasn't the same after witnessing the murders. He lost his mind.
