Diskuter Daddy Day Camp

By most accounts, this was a bad sequel...but, production-wise, it may be among the most shrewdly produced bad movies ever.

The original movie in the "daddy day" franchise, Daddy Day Care, starred Eddie Murphy, had a $60M budget, and brought in $164M, paying ~$2.74 for every $1 in budget. How would a sequel without Murphy fare? Cuba Gooding Jr. is a serviceable-enough actor but, with all due respect, he's no Eddie Murphy.

And, sure enough, Daddy Day Camp brought in a mere $18M. Yes, $18 million. Dismal failure, right? Well, not quite, because the budget was a paltry $6M. That's right, $6 million. And this means, Daddy Day Camp paid $3.03 for each $1 in budget - better than the original!
