Discuss Donnie Darko

It had a series of games that lead you to various things that happened after the film.

Dr. Monitoff was killed in a car wreck. He had come into possession of "The Philosophy Of Time Travel". His widdow, Karen (formerly Pomeroy), sent it to Elizabeth Darko, who is now the curator at the Library Of Congress, asking her to lock it away.

Jim Cunningham committed suicide.

At the very end, we hear a phone convo between an NTSB agent in the US and someone at Heathrow Airport in London. The NTSB guy has the engine that fell in Donnie's room. The Heathrow guy is looking at the 747 with the engine still attached. The serial numbers are an exact match. They sort of stammer and hum-haw around for a bit, then the NTSB guy just hangs up. The Heathrow guy says "Hello? Are you there?" and then he hangs up.

This was Swayze's character, correct?

No, Dr. Monitoff was Noah Wyley's character, the teacher Donnie was discussing time travel with.

The late Patrick Swayze's character was Jim Cunningham, the motivational guy who was revealed to be a pedophile. According to the site, he committed suicide.

Recent events make the car wreck seem awfully redundant.

Not sure what you mean there. Keep in mind this was 8 years before we lost Mr. Swayze to cancer.
