I like a lot of the movies in the Swords and Sorcery genre, but many of them take themselves too seriously given that and serious examination of the story will tell the typical viewer that it is all BS.

The Sword and the Sorcerer is a dark story, but the hero cracks enough glib near anachronistic one liners that it is fun. He's winking to the audience telling them that yes, this is all nonsense, but let's have fun.

"That's a small threat. That's a very small threat." Okay. We can roll our eyes and get on with the story.

Also, the three bladed sword that fires two of its blades is fun.
