Yeah the chauffeur was really creepy. Another scene that I found particularly unsettling was when the dad was possessed and kept throwing his son into the pool. And then of course, the whole ending sequence was pretty disturbing!
He gave me nightmares for years after I saw this film on TV in the mid 70s. The whole film is creepy, Karen Black is amazing as usual. In my opinion, one of the decades best horror film. 9/10
Check out other Dan Curtis movies like Trilogy of Terror, also with Black, and the Dark Shadows movies from 70 and 71. All excellent, and no happy endings.
Dude the entire ending sequence traumatized me, especially the window thing. Then the bricks thing. Funny how powerful these 70s horror flicks were without showing a drop of gore. AND THAT SONG...!
