This movie gave us a fresh look at dinosaurs. I saw fantastic visual effects but I really hate the lead characters. In the previous JP movies we had great and realistic characters (Kids are always annoying though) but here we've got a superman-like Chris Pratt and superannoying Bryce Dallas Howard. I didn't care about them at all. That's sad because I'm a huge fan of this franchise

I don't know that I'd call it overrated... It was a huge deal at the box office but I don't recall many people actually hailing it as any great triumph. None of the Jurassic Park movies had memorable characters, they were merely cyphers. I don't think that Pratt/Howard etc were much less dimensional than Neill/Dern. Okay, I'll admit that Goldblum at least attempted to put an original spin on his character.
What the first film had was a sense of wonder, and I don't think that will ever be recaptured.

Blasphemy! Ian Malcom has proven time and time again to be one of the most memorable characters from the films, and is frequently quoted. Grant, Sattler, and Hammond have also proven extremely enduring and memorable.
As far as the lack of wonder, I actually somewhat agree. I do think the second film had it, and a genuine sense of adventure. Fallen Kingdom had... moments. I honestly feel bad for Bayona, because I think he did the best he could with a dodgy script. There is a LOT I like about Fallen Kingdom.
