During the commentary, Nicholson says money made from the film would go towards paying his friend's vet bills bc the cat was shot by someone. The idea for the movie came from Nicholson's son and his friend. They asked him to make a slasher movie about a high school lock-in where the kids are doing it to raise awareness for homeless and hungry people. The lead actress broke her arm halfway through the movie. The remaining movie scenes with her had to be shot carefully to keep her right arm out except for when she would remove her cast for a few scenes. She's not holding the nail gun in that scene, it's someone else's arm.
