It's bad enough that most space travel movies are disaster movies, but ruining this movie with a killer was a waste.

At first, it was sci-fi enough for me, then it changed into a slasher film. I felt both aspects were well done; I don’t know about the genre requirements. : p

That's when it actually got interesting.

When this came out I remember thinking how bad it was after turning into a slasher film/event horizon ending. Watching it again recently, it wasn't that bad.

Probably would've been better if Pinbacker didn't look like Freddy Kruger and seemed superhuman (plus all that weird camera work to show when he was around). Felt like it would've worked better if he looked "normal" and went straight up crazy.

Overall quite underrated, especially the visuals and the acting which I thought were superb.

Why did Pinbacker look like that? What caused it? Does the movie explain that?

I don't think the movie explicitly addresses this, but believe from too much exposure to the sun, looking at it through the viewing area.

Why would someone look burnt in a movie about a spaceship in close proximity to the sun?

Was he burnt? I only saw a really bad photo of him when I googled.
