Did he ever say why? I know the dark arts looked funny and the electronic devices he used for travel were hokey. But still a good film

I love this movie. the effects look outdated now but it's a scary and really inventive movie, still

THought I read there was a lot of studio interference...they were pushing for the vilian to be the next Freddy Krueger. Plus the MPAA made him submit several cuts to bring it from an 'X' to an 'R' (lame)
