Discusión El señor de los anillos: El retorno del rey

At the end we see the hobbits seeing off the last ship of elves which would also include Bilbo and Gandalf but I always wondered, why the heck Frodo would leave? I think it boils down to that the ring fucked him up beyond repair and he would not be able to live a normal life in the Shire.

Yes, pretty much anybody that carried the ring had the chance to leave to the undying lands, whatever the ring had done to their hearts would not affected them anymore.. as far as I know Sam goes there too years later.

Oh cool! What book is that mentioned in? I always took the undying lands as a metaphor for heaven.

oh man, I wished I've read them. I know the source is NOT in the main books but in letters from tolkiens in which he expanded and gave more details about middle earth. https://www.amazon.com/Letters-J-R-R-Tolkien-J-R/dp/0618056998 as far as I know thats where you can find it. years after the ring was destroyed frodo still felt the pain of the ring, he was stabbed a few times..He had nightmares, he still wished he had the ring and also thought he was a failure because he couldnt let go of the ring. The undying land are an exclusive places for elves but they made exceptions and let Frodo, Sam and the Dwarf enter so they could have a peaceful ending.

So everybody wouldn't have to listen to his & Sam's endless whining?
