found it tedious to be honest... i remember sitting in the cinema and thinking why am i watching a small kid walking in the country side for 3 hours...
i feel sometimes directors rely too much on people being fans of the book and don't try enough to make a film that can work on it's own merits

I didn't like any of the trilogy when I first saw them. I recently revisited the first two and they seemed better than I remembered. This one however... bloated beyond belief and the scale of the battles seemed less impactful than in the Two Towers.
Notably, on rewatching I remembered almost nothing of the three films from my first watch through 15 years ago. Fairly forgettable stuff compared to the majesty of the books.
I get laughed at, but I genuinely preferred the Hobbit trilogy (as films, not as adaptations) as the lighter tone seemed to suit Jackson's style.
