I remember when these films first came out and I thought they got progressively better but as I am rewatching them now it seems to be that Fellowship is indeed the best of the three and its strength is it's pacing. It never seems to drag and I am watching the extended version. I remember watching Return of the King and thinking Christ, is this thing EVER going to end? Damn good film though. Its too bad The Hobbit was such a dud compared to LOTR.
