- The Two Towers (Extended Edition) - The extended version was my favorite of the six films. The EE Two Towers filled out the theatrical version. However...
- The Fellowship of the Ring - This was by far my favorite of all the theatrical releases. Nothing else came close. It was an incredible experience for me at the time, I watched it 3 times in the theaters.
- The Return of the King - Still a great film. A bit long in the EE, but still very good.
- The Hobbit - Decent, nice to see familiar characters again, although I hated the voice actor for the Goblin King. It was all wrong, IMO. 4.5 The Return of the King (animated) - Okay, this isn't a live-action film, but I include it to show how much I didn't care for the remaining Hobbit films. RotK had great songs! Where there's a whip, there's a way!
- Hobbit 2 - Pacing died in this film. It went nowhere, too much made-up stuff not in the novel, I hated all the water-town sequences. At least there was a dragon.
- Hobbit 3 - I didn't connect with the characters, the film didn't feel like it had heart or gravity. The best character died right at the start (the dragon). All downhill from there.
