Loved this one since I first saw it in theaters. It's obviously dated (I'm assuming the effects team worked on Tron as well, very similar style) but to me that's a good thing. Great characters, cool story, and the film is just loads of fun. Come to think of it, 1984 might be my favorite year for movies with stuff like Ghostbusters, Gremlins, Temple of Doom, Neverending Story, Karate Kid, Romancing the Stone, Terminator, Beverly Hills Cop...list goes on and on. One of the best times I can recall for pure entertaining popcorn fare at the cinema.

Agreed. Great movie year; particularly that Summer. You had TOD open May 23rd. Star Trek III June 1st. Then Gremlins and Ghostbusters both opened on June 8th! Just a mind-bogglingly packed Summer.

Yes this movie was a lot of fun. Loved Robert Preston and Dan O'Herlihy in this. Also loved the score.
Never thought computer animation would get much farther along than this. Boy was I wrong!

Yeah. I loved this movie. Oh did you know you can play the game in the movie? Rouge Synapse made a version of it using the assets from the movie, as well as published plans for the arcade cabinet. I'd like to have this in my home someday.

I do believe that's a Heathkit HERO-1 "robot" right after we see "Beta" starting to "develop" in Alex's bed...
