After the man is hit by a car, when he and beauty Elizabeth arrive, Matthew phones the police at the book store. He tells the officer on the phone the latter must have a report as there, I think he said,was an ambulance and some motorcycle cops at the scene. Either the cop on the phone was a pod or the ambulance drivers and the motorcycle cops were pods or all three! Suspenseful!
