This has to be the most epic movie about food and life I've ever seen. This movie does not age! I find it very hard to be moved, or even laugh from movies. But this hit me over the head with a happy hammer

I don't love it like you do but it's certainly charming and very funny, and it sure did make me feel hungry!

Come on don't down play my love, I'm glad you were charmed. Could you name a better funnier food drama movie?

Well capturing the magic of great food on screen is difficult and on that level Tampopo does a wonderful job.
Funnier? Probably not. Better? I'm not sure... off the top of my head I like The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover (a very beautiful film, although not all of the food is appetising!), Eat Drink Man Woman, Babette's Feast. The Singaporean film Mee Pok Man should make your mouth water, too!
I found Tampopo a touch overlong, but I would recommend it highly, so I'm not downplaying your love at all!

Many people regard it as a movie that makes your mouth water, or strictly about food. I found it more to be about life, sex, enemies, friendship etc. And it mixes food in with that, brilliant! Also it's a mature film. Any other PG film just isn't realistic to me. I'll check out your others recommendations though.

When I think of film about ramen or Japanese food - this comes to mind! But if you watch anime...check out Food Wars!
Plus points here for me for Ken Watanabe...so young here, loved watching him.
