Discuss Teen Wolf

Michael J Fox was famous off of back to the future, but would others just look at it as an early film of his and not really remembered at all?

Well indeed.

But likewise with Back To The Future - Take the time travel element out of that and you've got the rather questionable story of a young boy spending a lot of time hanging about in an old man's garage playing with his "toys"...

Not forgettable but probably not as memorable. The werewolf angle was a big draw but since BTTF was released a month or two earlier, Fox's star power would have made it something regardless. Also, take the final game without the wolf for example - arguably the best part of the movie. It could have worked as a more reality-based underdog, overcoming-the-odds type of story, which usually went over well during that time in the 80s.

Good point. It would be like heavy weights and inspirational.
