The ending where Archie runs and gets shot while very much in motion. I heard this was not supposed to be the ending of the film. The battle was supposed to be seen in greater detail and Frank survives the film (it looked here in this ending almost like he too was killed).
(This is the truth.) On Special features of a DVD to this movie they mentioned how the Vietnam War was the filmmaker's inspiration to make this Australian film. (Australia was also in the Vietnam War for those of you who don't know.) Ho Chi MInh (of North Vietnam) was a brutal killer of landlords in the 1950's so the filmmaker had overly negative views of that war and Australia's part in it. And that shaped how he made this film. (It was possible the filmmaker of this movie did not know at all about Minh's landlord slaughter.)
