The second half of the movie gets very patchy... When I first watched I thought Robert Englund became Freddy, the last we see of him is being shocked by the outcome his own painting, then a little while later Langenkamp and Saxon actually have a scene where they become their characters. Other people thought this too. As it stands his plot thread disapears at the half way point, all we get is an answering machine letting us knkow he's not home.
They should have also expanded Wes Cravens decent into madness.
I understand both of these things were originally scripted and fleshed out plotlines but cut for various reasons, including a role for Englunds wife. Why were they removed?

Don't know why they were cut, but would have made the movie better! I also had some nitpicks with the movie, but mostly in the fact that Freddy didn't look good at all, I hated the glove-hand thing, he had no real motive this time, yet acted like he did, and that damn goldeneye throwing-knife sound effect showed up way too many times!

I head that her son, Dylan, was suppose to do more stunts on the road. Robert was suppose to have a nightmare about Freddy and his wife saying he disappeared.
