Gave this movie a home viewing this past weekend, after a few years since last seeing it.
We have three main characters who seem to have endless time to wile away at the bowling alley. One day blurring into the next. A life of dissipation. Ah, to dream . . .
Which begs the question, how do these three layabouts have the means?
Although it is never stated, if I had to guess, I'd say The Dude was on some sort of disability. Although he does say he's unemployed, actual unemployment benefits normally do not continue to payout for a stretch of years; but, with a little "creativity", it is possible to qualify for a lifetime of disability payments founded on a bogus diagnosis, which would seem to be right up The Dude's (bowling) alley.;)
Walter appears to have some sort of home security company, based upon the writing on his van, so he can set his own hours, and work as much or as little as he wants.
But we never hear a peep about how Donny is able to have so much time on his hands.
I wonder what his angle is . . . ?
