Why not go after John Tate?

I still don't get why they never planned a sequel around him. We got one film to introduce the character and I went in thinking he was next only for more generic annoying kids instead. Why introduce him of your never going to use him again? Seems so pointless

IMO: so fans can take solace in the fact that Laurie Strode's bloodline didn't end with her death.
Also, for all we know if Resurrection had been successful he might have been involved in a future sequel.

I never thought of that. They could've been saving him. But of they do I hope they added some kids so we could get to know them or they do the films well enough that he started in a few like his sister.
