Is this the most pointless sequel ever made?

The previous (7th) installment ended the franchise perfectly and then this comes along, brings the killer back and then... Rob Zombie remake!
This movie has NO discernible reason to exist.

Yeah, this was a disgrace on just about every level. The beginning was the best part but made worse by the fact that Jamie Lee's final efforts had to be in this rubbish.
