I may be in the vast, vast minority, but I liked how goofy and silly it was. No, it’s not really a scary horror movie, but the movie kept me interested, I laughed at the silly video game kill scene, and Maggie was pretty easy on the eyes.
I don’t think it’s the best of the series or anything like that, but I liked that it explained a bit of Freddy’s back story as a kid and father. I don’t know, the one I didn’t like was part 5, so I’d slightly put this above that one in ranking the NOES flicks.
In my opinion, New Nightmare is the worst of the series, because it was so disappointing! Wes Craven, the inventor of Freddy, the original film, and the franchise returns to write and direct another film in it, and all he came up with was that. Sure, it had its moments, but was very underwhelming to me. I haven't seen all those other Freddy films, but this was a stand-out for being so lackluster.
