Just listened to the director's commentary on this flick and Wim talks about how Dennis Hopper & Bruno Ganz got into a fistfight on set. Apparently Hopper refused to learn his lines and decided to improvise, whereas Bruno (a stage actor) was expecting everything to go according to script. At one point Bruno socks Hopper in the jaw and this led to a brawl that shut down production for a day. Wim told the 2 to take it outside which they did... disappeared for a few hours... then came back the next morning stone drunk arm-in-arm! It sounds exactly like their on-screen relationship, Ripley & Jonathan, loving & hating each other. And it makes the ending even more awesome.

I haven't see this film in forever. I'll have to rewatch it soon. I miss Hopper.
