Where Eagles Dare is fun in its old-fashioned way (awfully long, though) but, while Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood have chemistry, it is pretty hard to accept the lumbering Burton leaping between moving cable cars thousands of feet up in the Alps.

Burton doesn't have to worry about the action when Eastwood's mowing down Nazi's like a motherfucking Terminator!

Haha yes, the body count in this film is off the scale.

I don't find Richard Burton credible in very much - he is too theatrically dramatic in his speech and attitude - he is Richard Burton, the alcoholic tragedian in every role he plays.

I agree with you to a point, actually. I think he is superb in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? -- one of my favourite screen performances ever, in fact -- and enjoy him in a few other roles (his last hurrah in 1984 for example). But some of his more highly-regarded work has left me underwhelmed (The Spy Who Came in from the Cold) or downright unimpressed (I think his performance in Equus is terrible, particularly the wooden, turgid monologres).

I agree with you in regard to "Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf?" but that's about it.
