算上“Gone，But Not Forgotten”、“Love Life”，这是导演Michael D. Akers第三次执拍同志题材的电影了。Akers习惯运用高密度的画面营造视觉效果，他的人物角色也以往往复杂而充满立体感。“Phoenix”中每个角色都被导演赋予了象征意义，水，大地，风和火。导演希望用4种元素来解构爱情的真正含义。

Inspired by Michelangelo Antonioni's 1961 classic L'Avventura, Michael Akers' "PHOENIX" is infused with symbolism and a sexy spark. Dylan Wells has a good job, a great apartment and an exciting relationship with Ken Sparks, his sexy well traveled boyfriend who just might be "the one." A great life, or so he believes, until Ken's visit for Dylan's 23rd birthday party is unexpectedly cut short when Ken is suddenly called away to tend to a failing real estate deal, and then disappears.

Dylan (Chad Bartley) in L.A. will mit seinem Freund Kenneth (Gaetano Jones) aus Phoenix Geburtstag feiern, der aber hat wenig Zeit und fliegt nach kurzer Zeit wieder zurück. Dylan reist ihm nach und erlebt dort die größte Überraschung seines Lebens. In Phoenix nämlich trifft er auf Demetrius (Jeff Castle), Kenneth' Partner, mit dem dieser seit acht Jahren liiert ist. Doch auch da ist Kenneth nicht, also trösten sich Dylan und Demetrius miteinander, zwei Betrogene, die Geborgenheit suchen. Kann aus dieser Situation eine neue Beziehung entstehen?
