...Wait...is this shit for real? Gender and race swap, yeah cause that really seems to work out. Not to mention Woo hasnt done shit in Hollywood for years. SJWs are fucking losing it man. All female Ghostbusters all over again. If you dont see it you are racist and sexist with this one! But seriously wtf is Woo even thinking? Wonder how much money they threw at him. I just cant see Lupita holding a candle to Chow Yun Fat. In fact I dont see anyone doing it justice. This is looking like Hollywood Oldboy all over again. Sad.

The good news here is that John Woo is actually doing something. I was obsessed with his films when I was in my teens and it's tragic that he's pretty much vanished for so long. As for the film- yeah, it seems like an odd idea. But maybe it'll get him working properly again.

I think the last big American film hes made was Mission: Impossible II, which was awhile ago. I dont think his name carries any weight in Hollywood anymore. So it seems strange that they would take a chance by gender and race swapping one of his most famous films. Unless your a cinephile or a fan of old HK films no one is even going to know who or what this is.

Last American film he made was Paycheck. Which was still a while ago. Yeah, it's tragic, he's long been forgotten. Action cinema has been taken over by the more fantasy/sci-fi, superhero, family friendly sort of thing.

Yeahhhh, I dont think that made anything. And I agree that action films have taken a back seat for the past few years. I mean I think the only action series that still holds water in todays climate is the Mission: Impossible franchise.

I'm gonna withhold judgement until I see some footage, but wanted to add to the John Woo love. I've seen and enjoyed most of his stuff from "A Better Tomorrow" up to the "Lost in Space" pilot - even played "Stranglehold" until I got stuck on the casino level. Picked up "Red Cliff" in a Pound Store, but didn't make it through to the end.
P.S. Could the poster for 2017's "Manhunt" be any more "John Woo"? https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/w600_and_h900_bestv2/uWWmqeC1jEAGl9Nj3W65PL7Bvon.jpg
