First, it's one of my favorites. The remake is also brilliant but it's missing some of the strangeness the original really nails. But what stuck out to me on this watch is all the stupid decisions they make which just makes things worse. First they find the UFO in the ice and in about 30 seconds decide to try to remove it from the ice with explosives. And of course the flying saucer blows up. Then they get the alien in ice. And they decide to keep it in an ice block so they don't make the same mistake as the UFO, only to have one of the crew melt the ice block with an electric blanket. Honestly this is the most incompetent crew ever. Throw in the reporter that can't ever take a photo when things are happening. Oof. Still such a fun watch. The alien makeup is still super effective, as are the breathing plants in the green house... a place that the crew strangely didn't even know existed.
