Die Hart released on Amazon Prime really quietly, so quietly that I never heard about it until after its release date. I get it now.
Producers have less distribution cost when hooking up with a streaming service. So, they don't need to pump the advertising to get butts out to theatre seats.
Like many outsiders, I've wondered how producers will be able to calculate profitability when there's no longer a box office. It appears that lower distribution costs are a big part of it. I still don't see clearly how they do the math, but take a look at the exclusive releases for each of the platforms - there's tons of content you never heard of, posted and just waiting for us to discover them by browsing.
