I don't know for sure, but it kind of seems like they were going for the "Usual Suspects" angle with this, but it just doesn't work. Like at all. There's plenty of "twists", and it's supposed to keep you guessing, but with a stupid and convoluted story it just ends up being nonsensical. The whole idea of the fake kidnapping....Why bother with it if they a re going to kidnap a real mobster? Couldn't they have just used him to get the money? The ending is rather crappy as well. I don't think they even give any real reason or motive why the chick and his boyfriend are after the two million. I read that they filmed several different endings and if this one is the best one.......sheesh.
