I mean seriously in a horror movie as the victim your in control once you acquired the shotgun. He was on the right track but too trigger happy and shot his friend. Look first next time and make quick work of them.

I see this as part of a trend. I've seen it so often in shows; the character with the gun either accidentally shoots the wrong person, or they are easily disarmed, or they miss easy close range shots. I think writers on most shows just don't like to show people being able to solve problems using firearms.
