That's a decent list even if EGAE isn't the best, it's a list of your favourites. They don't have to be 4 hour long Polish art-house films to make a good list of entertaining movies. But, yeah it was pretty bad wink

  • 1: Die Hard
  • 2: Beetlejuice
  • 3: Young Guns
  • 4: Return of the Living Dead part II
  • 5: Night of the Demons
  • 6: Heathers
  • 7: Midnight Run

But I don't know if it would be a favourite today. It's another one I'll have to rewatch. I almost put Heathers and Midnight Run in mine. I probably should have.

I'm not saying the films on mine are amazing, just ones I always find myself going back to... After work and dealing with my young children I need dumb action or comedy or whatever to switch off... wink

It's been airing on Comet TV all month, caught some of it and I have to say that it is one of the 'cheesiest' movies I have ever seen. I might have watched the whole thing if it hadn't been for Jim Carrey (the guy gives me the creepy crawlies).

Haha. I'm sure it is. I think I'm probably gonna be pretty disheartened when I watch this now.

I don't get the appeal to an adaptation of The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Most of the appeal of the book is in its narration.

Oddly enough, I found the book a slog and gave up on it. I do intend to try again one day.

But I think it's one of the great films of the '80s, moving, powerful and beautifully shot.

hmm, I'll take a look at it then.

Definitely worth it. Not many genuine successful epics were produced during this period, and this one balances the historical sweep with the intimate story at its heart beautifully. Sven Nykvist's photography is staggering and the acting is perfect, particularly Lena Olin in one of the best performances of the decade.

I find it pretty awesome that The Unbearable Lightness of Being is being discussed on the same thread as Earth Girls Are Easy simultaneously! I bet that's something that's never ever happened before EVER!
