Very good. Steiger and Poitier are excellent and it's a solid whodunnit. The social setting is just the icing on the cake, particularly in showing glimpse that prejudice is found in all races. It is a little on the nose and has aged a little, but still a very solid 7/10.
A great 12 months for Poitier with this, To Sir With Love and Guess Who is Coming to Dinner. Poitier somewhat similar in all roles as the debonair, worldly and cosmopolitan professional. I always assumed he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Turns out he had to leave school aged 13 due to grinding poverty and played various roles (which I've yet to see) where he is an entirely different character.
Anthony James is pretty much the first guy on the screen. Any time I see him in a cop show, I just assume he is guilty because of the look on his face.
