Discuss Hocus Pocus

I love this movie. I try to watch it once or twice a year. Always on Halloween. Having a Rewatch right now but going retro and watching it on VHS. I own it on DVD and Bluray but every now and again I like to watch a movie on VHS. This movie along with Mrs Doubtfire are two of my favorites from the 90s.

I've always loved Hocus Pocus! It's one of the few great Halloween-themed movies. I watch it every October.

I own it on blu-ray, too. grin

Its on now. I wish we got more updates about the sequel.

I wonder what happened to the sequel. I noticed that you posted this over two years ago and I haven't heard of the sequel.

The sequel is being made for Disney+'s streaming service, that alone gives me little hope it will even rub elbows with the original.

I think what made Hocus Pocus great was the filmmakers, especially the writers who are horror makers in their own right. David Kirschner who wrote some Child Play movies & Mick Garris who was the showrunner for Masters of Horror series, so the movie didn't "talk down" to the audience the way many Disney live action productions, it wasn't afraid to be a little "dark" at times.

Plus the casting of the 3 witches was PERFECT! Midler, Parker & Najimy just made the film MORE iconic! I doubt they'll be able to capture their magic if they recast.

Aparemtly it's being produced now
