The recently released Blu-ray features an extended version including new animated sequences. I haven't seen it yet but it's already available.

I'd be interested how those scenes turned out, any opinions? Can you see any difference in the quality of the animation?

I haven't seen them yet either, but I'd be interested to. I understand that one of them hints at the giant's origins and purpose.
