Discuss Quadrophenia

The cinematography in Quadrophenia really is quite striking. Both London and Brighton have rarely looked better, the mods/rockers fight scenes have a ravishing energy and the finale on Beachy Head is a stunner.

1979 was such an embarrassment of riches for gorgeously shot films - Manhattan, Apocalypse Now, The Black Stallion, Stalker, All That Jazz, The Tin Drum, Alien, Hair, Nosferatu and Tess all spring to mind as particularly beautiful, and I may be missing some.

Many of the best-remembered '70s films had a grimy/gritty look, but that year's crop provided us with one dazzling shot after another.
