This movie is so cinematic… Nothing on TV looks like this… sorry HBO/Netflix
Even though the subject matter doesn’t lend itself to visual flourishes, the way the film is shot, the compositions, the transition from scene to seen, the visual storytelling, they all create a mood that adds to much to the story…
even a faeces covered wall holds one’s interest…
And that static long shot conversation scene (17 minutes)… it has so much impact because it’s contrasted with the movement of the rest of the film…
Who would have thought that you could just put the camera there, without moving it, with no cuts and just watch and listen to two characters having a conversation… Credit to Steve McQueen, the director, and even more to Fassbender and Cunningham for pulling it off.

That Fassbender/Cunningham conversation is quite riveting, one of the greatest film scenes of recent years. Both actors are absolutely superb.
